<lj:music>MJ</lj:music>

It's Michael Jackson's birthday today. I've made a birthday post for MJ every year for the 8 years I've had this LJ account.

It's crazy how worried about me people were when he died. I had never had so many phone calls in one day before!

It really sucks that he's gone. Lately I've been in this angry stage where I accuse people who claim to love him that they aren't really fans.

"Did you download all his songs when you heard the news?"

"I already OWN all the songs you twit."

I was in Philly when he was acquitted in the summer of 2005. I still have the local newspaper with the front page article. For kicks, I also grabbed the Spanish language newspaper just in case.

Happy birthday MJ. We love you.

An anniversary

My LJ birthday was last week. June 15th to be exact.

On June 15th 2001 I made my LJ and updated it before leaving for Tampa with Sarah Dowd and Chris Shelton to see STOMP perform.

It's been a long ride, and I still love you LJ.

The userpic I'm using for this entry was one of the first ones I had of myself. It was taken at the duplex on my little webcam that everyone used to take vanity shots when we were just sitting around.

I have almost every picture I've ever taken archived on my back up drive. It's sad to say, that if I've EVER taken a picture of you in the last 10 years, I probably still have it. There's a gaggle of silly pictures from the duplex where Grant or Lindsey or Jon just sat at my computer taking pictures of themselves. Good times.

I think we all still remember the duplex, and a time when LJ was the only website we had for this sort of social connection. It the age of Facebook and Myspace, it's hard to think that all we had was a 100X100 pixel image and a digital diary to represent ourselves. LJ and AIM was all there was. I don't even use AIM anymore. When I do open it up, it's the same 15 people that have always been there, and they're usually on "mobile". Does that mean I'm allowed to msg them? I'm not even sure anymore. We've gone from the long posts where we talked about anything and everything, and we could count on our friends to read and comment and thereby validating our love for each other, to having 160 character tweets to express what we're doing at the exact moment we do it. Maybe that's why twitter and I don't get along. I'm too long winded. I mean, how many tweets does it take to tell you EXACTLY how shitty my day was?

I'm enjoying a laid back weekend with little to do. Classes start in a few weeks, and I have to buy 1 million dollar books for all three of them. FUN.

I've got a trip to DC the week right before school starts. Should be exciting and I'm hoping to come back with enough awesome photos to make a nun giggle.

I haven't made a post yet about MJs death. I'm sure it's coming soon though. I have a lot to say.

THE STATS

In the years of my LJ I've acquired 106 friends (of which, I think 4 are active), made 771 updates, received 4,059 comments, and left 3,838 comments.

Be safe kids, I love you all.

So school started back up last week. Most enjoyable. My classes are really awesome this semester too. I'm taking comparative religions as one of the thousand some odd history classes I have to take, and the other class is Darwin and the dinosaurs. Which to me sounds like two interesting classes to take at the same time. I can already see myself studying for the wrong class and being confused.

"Wait...did God crawl out of the primordial ooze?"

"Ok, so Allah created raptors?"

In other news, Christmas was most enjoyable. I got a pro account for Flickr, subscription to Shutterbug, an amazing wine rack, some scarves, a speed light for my camera, new lenses, a few books, and some much needed socks.

I've been modeling shirts for Snorgtees.com. It's actually a fun gig. I get to keep all the shirts and it pays per session pretty well. It's one of those"I get paid to do this?" sorta things.

I recently stopped going to my therapist. After months of chit-chats and some really fun personality tests, I think to value of having an impartial party to talk to about life sorta lost its momentum. Besides, I could use the money for something else.

My brother Jason turns 21 this year, so a bunch of us are going on a cruise to celebrate. The poor kid NEVER travels. So it's off to the high seas! Should be a good time.

How has everyone else been?

I'll leave you with a video. I love this Say Anything song, and this video is really cute. :D

<lj-embed id="9" />

For me, the bible was always this really impressive collection of fairy tales. Great stuff though. It's meant to inspire and give people hope. Hopefully even turn us into better people. Whether or not "better people" meant "kind and loving to one another" or just "God fearing and money donating" is still left to be determined. Either way, the bible has some really great and fucked up stories. Right in the book of Genesis there a really great story where there two girls rape their dad.

You read that right.

It's one of those things where if your sort of familiar with the bible, it's no secret. There's plenty of sex and murder and all sorts of crazy shit going on. You want to talk about some wild kids? Check out the old testament! But allow me to explain this rape thing for anyone that doesn't know what I'm talking about.

Most people know about (or at least have heard of) Sodom and Gamorrah. The heathen cities that God destroyed. Not just destroyed, he dropped a shit ton of fire and brimstone on them! Which teaches us an important lesson. Sodom and Gamorrah were full of sexual deviants. They loved oral sex, anal sex, and maybe even bestiality. Perhaps even a bunch of homosexuals (It all depends on how you perceive the meaning of the language). This is where the word "Sodomy" comes from. Basically we're dealing with a biblical San Francisco.

God had enough of this place and told Abraham (remember, Abraham was the PIMP DADDY of the bible. Him and God were tight like the Latin kings.) that he had enough of that garbage and was just going to roast them. Abraham seems to be more forgiving and understanding than God and asks that he spare the city if there's at least fifty good people there. God agrees but comes up short so Abraham does the same thing any kid does with their parents when they want something, they lower their demands.

Forty-five!

There isn't forty-five righteous people either...

Thirty?

Still short.

Twenty...?

No dice.

...ten..????

Not even.

Well shit. Looks like Sodom and Gomorrah are fucked. But Gods angels do notice something...there is ONE righteous person living in Sodom. It's Abraham's nephew Lot! Glorious day! He wins the special prize of escaping before the destruction. Two angels are to guide Lot, his wife, and their two daughters out of the town.

BUT WAIT!

The men of the town have surrounded the house and demand that lot give them these two men (the angels) to them. They make comments about wanting to have sex with them. Lot (being an AWESOME and RIGHTEOUS person) OFFERS HIS TWO VIRGIN DAUGHTERS TO THEM INSTEAD. They refuse the women and demand the men. The last thing God wants is a town of gays getting their hands on his angels! The townspeople are suddenly struck with blindness and Lot can escape with his family.

God tells them not too look back, Lots wife disobeys god cause and is instantly turned into a pillar of salt.

ANYWAY

Lot and his daughters are forced to live in a cave now. They just escaped Armageddon.

Here's where the rape occurs.

Lots daughters have been pretty traumatize. Much more than living in Sodom ever did I guess.

They get to talking and decided that it's right for them to preserve their family line, and have sex with their dad.

They must assume that he wouldn't see it the same way, so the older of them fills him with food and wine and sleeps with him.

SHE GETS HIM DRUNK AND RAPES HIM.

Supposedly he didn't know any of it happened. The older daughter then goes and tells the younger to do it the next night.

So she does.

Lot slept with both of his daughters, and according to the bible, he never even knew it.

The moral of all this? Hell if I know. In the end, Lot's daughters each had a son. One of them was even named "Moab" which sounds like the Hebrew word for "From father". HINT HINT DAD.

Here's my sources

THE BIBLE - Genesis 19: 31-38

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=1&chapter=19&version=31
